How GoodPoints Works

The points system for task distribution - explained in detail · By Dr.-Ing. Walter Tritt

Points instead of commands. Transparency instead of hierarchy. Self-organization instead of external control.

GoodPoints is a simple principle with a big effect: tasks carry points - depending on difficulty and urgency. Whoever takes on work and completes it well, collects. Everyone sees the same points list. Performance becomes visible without anyone negotiating money or begging for recognition.

Why points and not money?

Money bonuses are expensive, create envy and distrust employees. Points cost nothing - but they make visible who carries the load. They are a currency of recognition that nobody loses when someone else earns it. More in the article "Why Points Instead of Money?".

The model in 6 steps

1
A task is posted - with points according to difficulty and urgency. Replacing a faucet: few points. An emergency call-out at night: many.
2
The exchange shows all open tasks - every specialist sees the same picture. Nobody gets assigned - everyone decides for themselves what to take on.
3
Whoever takes it, gets the order - and completes it. No dispatcher working in the dark: the distribution is transparent for everyone.
4
The customer confirms completion - only then do the points flow. Not for accepting, but for completing.
5
Colleagues check quality - another specialist spot-checks completed orders and earns points for it. In case of deviation, the majority decides. Quality assurance without a control department.
6
The points list shows who carries - fair, current, the same for everyone. Year-end, annual bonus, payout to all: the points provide the basis without anyone debating names.

Proven in practice

"Before the project, employees asked: Why me? During the project they asked: Why don't I get the work?" - observed in the 2006 pilot

Which industries?

The model works wherever tasks must be distributed: corporate divisions and large organizations, schools and training, craft businesses, care services, law firms, clubs. The system adapts its language: in care, the "task" becomes an "assignment", the specialist becomes a "carer" - without programming.

The origin

The model comes from the doctorate of Dr.-Ing. Walter Tritt and received the KVD Service Management Award in 1992. Piloted in a German corporation in 2006 (+20 % productivity from the first month, project costs more than recovered through efficiency gains). Available as software for everyone since 2026.
